GM Says “We’re Going Zero Tailpipe By 2035, Carbon Neutral By 2040” Will It? Can It?

Earlier today, General Motors made a bold claim in a new press release in which it stated it wanted to go zero emissions in the U.S. by 2035, and carbon neutral by 2040.

With its Ultium battery technology in the pipeline, new EV-only models due to release this year and an accelerated deployment for EV adoption, the largest automaker in the U.S. is making a massive statement. But given its past behavior, promises, and continued production of massive gas-guzzling SUVS, can we trust it?

Should we support it? And what next?
