Loud, proud, but always polite
To help customers understand what it's like behind the wheel of its Spark EV, Chevrolet has unveiled an info graphic and companion series of videos giving tips to those wanting to dump the pump for good with the aptly-named subcompact.
Clean, green and getting greener
A new study from Shrink That Footprint shows that even in countries like India, South Africa and China -- where the majority of electricity generated comes from burning fossil fuels -- electric cars are as clean as their gasoline counterparts.
In related news, the IPCC has issued its first climate report in five years, concluding that humans are as responsible for accelerated global warming as smoking is for lung cancer.
Anything Tesla can do, GM can do better?
After declaring General Motors would  make a 200-mile affordable EV some time by 2016 to compete directly with Tesla's upcoming Model E, GM CEO Dan Akerson told the Detroit News this week that the Cadillac ELR Saloon was going to compete directly with the Tesla Model S in the luxury car segment.  We, like many others, remain unconvinced.
Direct to you advertising
Remember the personalised adverts John Anderson has to endure in Minority Report?  Well, if you live in certain parts of California and you’re known to be a bit of a granola-munching geek, expect to get some direct marketing via your TV set, courtesy of Toyota.
In a similar move, Nissan will also start targeting specific people courtesy of a new iTunes Radio ad campaign for its LEAF electric car.
Up for rent
Announced yesterday, lucky renters at San Francisco and Los Angeles airports will be able to reserve a Model S as part of Hertz’ ‘Dream Cars’ program, alongside other prestige cars form automakers like Aston Martin, Ferrari, and Lamborghini.
Carwings: It's free!
European LEAF owners will be getting continued Carwings service for free, even after their car has reached three years old, Nissan confirmed this week.
Self-driving LEAFs 
Over in Japan, Nissan was awarded the country’s first ever autonomous vehicle license plate on Monday, which will be fitted to a Nissan LEAF running the automaker’s prototype Advanced Driver Assistance System.
